Obstetric simulation to enhance training effects:
The 3B Scientific® P90 PRO Birth Simulator has been designed for training skills during normal deliveries, complicated deliveries, and emergency obstetric situations. Obstetric simulation has proven successful in improving training in delivery skills, adherence to protocols, and response in emergency situations.
Assessment and manipulation of fetal positions:
Complications during delivery are generally less likely if abnormal fetal position or presentation can be detected before the onset of labor. Using obstetric simulation, trainees will learn to identify abnormal positions and presentations, as well as how to use manual methods to facilitate the delivery process. Training in manual delivery maneuvers (e.g., Leopold or Pinard) is essential to correctly apply measures during complicated deliveries. Additionally, the trainee will learn when to apply emergency obstetric interventions (e.g., cesarean section).
