The P93 PRO catheterization trainer for men can be used for realistic demonstration, practice, and assessment of bladder catheterization in men both via the urethra (transurethral) and through the abdominal wall (suprapubic). The genital inserts are placed in an anatomically correct model of the lower abdomen and are secured with magnets. The material is soft and flexible: the foreskin is movable, and the penis can be stretched. This allows the student to practice all necessary actions for catheterization (e.g., disinfection). The material provides a realistic feel when inserting and removing the catheter from the bladder with realistic resistance and insertion depth.

Direct Training:

When the catheter is correctly inserted, fluid drains just like in a real patient. The catheter can also be checked through a transparent bladder. The abdominal wall on the PRO version can be removed for better visualization of the procedure during urethral catheterization.

Various Levels of Difficulty:

Three different levels of urethral narrowing can be set on the male insert. In the narrowest setting, catheterization is impossible, indicating the need for a suprapubic catheter.

Changing and Supplying the Suprapubic Catheter:

If catheterization through the urethra is no longer possible, a suprapubic catheter must be inserted. The suprapubic catheter is usually placed by a physician through the abdominal wall into the filled bladder and secured to the abdominal wall. The PRO version allows for practicing the change of the suprapubic catheter and its care. Care includes changing dressings, cleaning the catheter, and disinfecting the wound.

Note:

For catheterization, it is recommended to use catheters with only one or two drainage openings located opposite each other. Both silicone and PVC catheters can be used. We recommend the following catheters:

Urethral narrowing "open" = catheter 16 CH or 14 CH balloon catheter
Urethral narrowing "partial narrowing" = catheter 14 CH or 12 CH balloon catheter
Catheters with a curved tip should not be used!

Tip:

According to recommendations for proper catheterization, even during simulation, a lubricating gel (not included) should be used, which should be placed in the urethra to ensure smooth catheter insertion. Alternatively, some lubricating gel can be applied to the tip of the catheter.
