Pulmonology
ADAM-X features extremely realistic airways. It has fully independent right and left lungs, and lung ventilation automatically produces corresponding breath sounds, chest excursion, and pulmonary gas exchange. The occurrence of apnea or hypoventilation, as well as low oxygen fraction in the inhaled gas mixture, leads to corresponding physiological changes: hypercapnia, hypoxemia, decreased SpO2, and tachycardia. Positive pressure lung ventilation or spontaneous restoration of ventilation returns ADAM-X to breathing with the appropriate respiratory rate.
