Why this trainer in PHTLS training
In PHTLS, it is critically important to automate what truly saves lives in the first minutes: rapid airway management, access for infusion (IV/IO), and emergency interventions for chest injuries. The PHTLS Torso Trainer is specifically designed for these 4 “core” aspects of the program.
What can be practiced
1) Airway — maintaining airway patency (basic + advanced adjuncts)
- intubation on Deluxe Intubation Head
- complications/variations: tongue edema and laryngospasm
- realistic jaw thrust due to flexible “skin”
- possibility of jaw dislocation as a complication
- material that reduces the risk of blade damage to the laryngoscope
2) IV therapy — intravenous therapy
- IV arm with multiple access zones: from the dorsal surface of the hand to the antecubital fossa
- rotation of the arm for ease of access
- ven replacement in field conditions (serviceability/durability)
3) I/O therapy — intraosseous access (sternal/manubrium)
- insertion into the manubrium (sternal handle)
- designed for the Pyng FAST1® training device
- replaceable bone insert for long-term use
4) Chest trauma — chest injury (pneumothorax)
- training in pneumothorax decompression
- replaceable “skin” areas
- air release for audible confirmation of correct placement
- design made to avoid damaging internal systems during practice
Reliability and operation
- No electronics or ECG functions — less risk in the training process, easier maintenance
- Replaceable consumables (skin/inserts) — operation under group flow without “killing” the mannequin
- Manufactured in the USA, 3-year manufacturer warranty
Who it is suitable for
- PHTLS / EMT / paramedic training centers
- hospital simulation centers
- medical colleges/universities (emergency medicine, trauma)
- instructors in pre-hospital medicine, ALS/Trauma courses
