The Hemorrhage Control Leg Trainer is a medical skills training simulator for controlling bleeding in the lower extremity with an extremely realistic simulation of wounds and bleeding. It is an ideal tool for enhancing pre-hospital patient care training with instructions and practical training on bleeding control, wound packing, and tourniquet application. This trainer is particularly suitable for Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) and civilian casualty assistance training.
The Hemorrhage Control Leg Trainer P103 from 3B Scientific is an affordable and straightforward solution for realistic training in bleeding control and treatment of traumatic injuries to the thigh. Trainees will gain confidence in managing severe bleeding using tourniquets, wound packing, and amputation care skills.
The P103 leg trainer features three different wound models:
Deep laceration (approximately 4 cm) in the groin area.
Penetrating gunshot wound (GSW) with entry and exit wounds in the upper thigh.
Knee amputation.
The manual system delivers artificial blood to each wound separately or to any two of them together or to all three wounds simultaneously. Various scenarios of venous or arterial bleeding can be modeled easily and realistically. The trainee will receive direct visual feedback (bleeding control through mechanical occlusion) when the chosen bleeding control technique is successfully applied.
This trainer can be used to practice the following bleeding control procedures:
- Applying a tourniquet to limbs: Tourniquets can be applied either “high and tight” at the proximal end of the limb or 5-8 cm above the wounds. When applied correctly, the tourniquet stops bleeding through mechanical occlusion of blood vessels. Double tourniquet application can also be practiced.
- Wound packing: A deeply lacerated vessel can be palpated manually. A gunshot wound can be packed with gauze.
- Application of hemostatic device: Gunshot wounds are compatible for the application of the XSTAT® hemostatic device.
- Stump/wound dressing for large areas.
Knee drop technique:
This technique is applicable in scenarios that exclude a knot wound. A protective cover is included in the delivery.
