The Life/form® Chest Manikin is specifically designed for studying the theory, anatomy, and skills necessary for managing chest trauma at the pre-hospital stage, as well as for ongoing chest care.
The right side of the manikin features two incisions for examination, providing an understanding of the anatomical relationships between the skin surface, muscles, ribs, and lungs.
The left side has an area for a tension pneumothorax under pressure, allowing the release of air that has accumulated in the pleural space and limits lung inflation.
There is also a site where chest tubes can be placed to treat pleural effusion by draining fluid from the pleural cavity. The color, volume, and viscosity of the fluid are controlled by the instructor.
The Life/form® Chest Tube Manikin is ideal for studying the concept and mechanics of closed drainage systems with water seal, such as Pleur-Evac type devices.
The manikin comes with two visual platforms for chest tube maintenance, five interchangeable surgical sites for the chest tube, five interchangeable pneumothorax pads for the chest, and a hard carrying case. (Chest tubes or water seal drainage system are not included).
